Just reading this thread makes me sad, because it reminds me of a similar boneheaded auditor who pulled a similar BS NC out of his hat and my own mgt would not support fighting it. Like in every profession, there are those in auditing who are idiots.

Again everyone, your expertise, knowledge and understanding humbles me. If everyone would just turn the world's problems over to us, our grandchildren would be able to drink from mountain springs again...well maybe our great-grandchildren.

Everyone in this thread understands what I'm currently dealing with as far as the auditor is concerned. Now this being an AS9100 recert audit, it will come as no surprise that this auditor audited the ISO13485 medical side of the house although there were plenty of aerospace/defense jobs in-process. We have held certifications under both Standards (technically all 3 Standards) for years. Isn't she supposed to stay under the aerospace umbrella? Unfortunately, the auditor I've been focused on here was the Lead Auditor of the two we had visit us. There were two of us escorting and we would switch auditors which was also a disadvantage.

If nothing else, I'd tell the registrar to never send that bad auditor back again. I did that, and then when I got good auditors I told the auditors I wanted them back and they often re-booked me for the next audit before leaving at the end of the current audit. Just like any other professional I hire, I don't want to go back to where I got bad service.

I have a very good relationship with my current audit team. They are fair and reasonable and easy to work with, and find me to be the same. When they issue NC's they are legit.

I can relate Mike. I had a great relationship with the auditors I have used through the years. Unfortunately Corporate directed us to pull both certs under the same CB (obviously we had two CBs). This is the first audit from the new CB we have never used before.
