Anyone using FastLynx software?

I was wondering if anyone uses the FastLynx (or similar) software for transferring data from pc to pc through a USB bridge cable? If so, do you like / dislike FastLynx and why? I use Pc-Linq and it "gets hung-up" too often so I am looking to get something to replace it. Thanks.

Never used either of those as if I am transferring from PC to PC I would use a crossover cable which fits into network adaptor ports. I assume one or both the PC's you are transferring from doesn't have a network port?

I transfer data from the desktop to my laptop and vice versa. The laptop is my personal pc and is not on the network. Actually, I'd prefer it not to be on the network anyways. So, all I have is the USB bridge cable and the software. My laptop contains all my work so that I can get up and go work anywhere at any time. I transfer files immediately as I finish working on them throughout the day.

It doesn't need to be on the network to transfer the files. All you would need is a crossover cable (which is different to a patch cable which is used to connect your PC to a network). You would simply disconnect the patch cable from your netowrked PC, plug in the crossover cable to your PC and laptop, creating in essence a 2 pc standalone network, run the microsoft network wizard on your laptop and then you can transfer over your files at a much higher speed and without the need for third party software.

I'll ask a couple of people that I know to see if they have any suggestions for some usb transfer software as well.

Talked to a couple of people about this and they have echoed my thoughts in that you don't want to do it the way you are doing it. Hang ups are a bit of a "feature" of USB (USB 1.1 anyway USB 2.0 is better).

So in short even if you do change software you are likely to encounter the same problems. If you want to continue using you USB bridge make sure you have no other USB devices connected to either computer at the same time.

In all honesty you would probably be better of buying a USB memory stick and transfer using that than using this USB bridge. I would still recommend using a crossover cable especially if you are copying a lot of data over.
