API 5DP Monogram Licensee

As per the notification received by API on 11th January, 2021,

"Facilities whose scope of Licensing is limited to Drill Pipe (Assembly) may transition to a registration under API Spec Q1, 9th Edition with a scope of Manufacture of Drill Pipe Assemblies. Applications must be submitted through the myCerts portal.”

On the above my query is

We have the earlier license for the full scope i.e., from pipe making, Upsetting, HT and friction welding, PWHT etc., and were marking the complete drill pipe with API monogram.

Facilities whose scope of Licensing is limited to Drill Pipe (Assembly) may transition to a registration under API Spec Q1.

As we do not come under the limited scope limited to Drill Pipe (Assembly), can we do the monogram marking on the drill pipe or not?

If desired to mark API monogram, what shall we do?

With these new changes, why monogram license is required for drill pipe body alone.

Is API trying to do business out of certification?

Your scope is not limited to Drill Pipe (Assembly), so you can still manufacture and monogram everything within your scope.

If you have already contacted API, please be assured that we are working on your request. Our expected response time is within two U.S. business days. However, some inquiries may need to be referred to other API teams and require additional time for a response.
So you should be patient to wait, API will reply to your question.

I agree with Jmech, the words said are very correct and you can adopt his view. You can still use API monogram on your Drill Pipe.

Though our QMS scope covers Drill Pipe (Assembly), the scope of API Monogram issued by API was not certified to DP Assembly..

Even then we can mark API Monogram???

You can still monogram whatever is in the scope of the API Monogram License issued by API.
