Applicable ISO 9001:2015 Clauses for Remote Site(s)

Hi All,

I'm hoping you can provide some guidance. I am in the purchasing department of a manufacturing company and we are ISO 9001 certified but we are a remote site under our manufacturing plant...they don't get there cert unless we pass our recertification.

I'm trying to get a better grasp at which clauses in the 2015 standard we will be audited to. In the 2008 standard we were audited to the following:

§ Supplier Evaluation and Qualification
§ Purchased Product Requirements Verification and Communication
§ Documentation and Control of records and procedures
§ Employee Training (Continuous improvement of staff/involvement and role in the organization)
§ Management Responsibility

Basically, 7.4.1, 7.4.2, and management and HR (training). This was due to us being a remote site with limited scope...the plants QMS basically pointed to us for sections 7.4.1 and 7.4.2 and management and training was considered a requirement.

Any thoughts on how this plays out for 9001:2015? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Cove!

The ISO TC/176/SC2 Home Page includes, among other things, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/DIS 9001 Correlation matrices.

Your certificate might list your site as a remote site to the main site; if so, your certificate would list a limited scope such as "Purchasing, Human Resources and Training, and Management" and your internal scope statement would list the activities you do and those performed at other site(s), thus clarifying the structure and what is expected to be audited at each site.

I am however confused about this because it sounds like your site handles the QMS while the manufacturing site produces the goods. Why would you then be the remote site in a group certificate? Well that is a question for your registrar...
