Application of AS9100 Rev.C

Can some one throw some light on this statement?
"Organizations whose primary business is providing
maintenance, repair and overhaul services for aviation
commercial and military products; and original
equipment manufacturers with maintenance, repair and
overhaul operations that operate autonomously, or that
are substantially different from their
manufacturing/production operations; should use the
IAQG-developed 9110 standard (see Bibliography)."

1.What is the basic reason to include this statement in application? Was it not clear to organisations what is the appropriate standard for them?

2.Will the IAQG and ABs seriously ensure this or it will remain optional to select the standard (should)?

3.In case it is strongly implemented and monitored, how the situation will be handled where aerospace MRO opted certification in AS9100 ?
How CBs will handle the situation? Specially those which have MRO clients, certified in AS9100 and not having scope to change over to AS9110 as it is not accredited for AS9110?

4.Is some general awareness to aerospace organisations is expected by IAQG through OASIS to avoid confusion?

The IAQG is trying to clarify intended application of the standards. Check Intended Applicability of the Aerospace 91XX Standards
Was it not clear to organisations what is the appropriate standard for them?
As you ask in question # 3, some organizations have seeked certification to the wrong standards.
2.Will the IAQG and ABs seriously ensure this?
I doubt it.

I doubt that it will be seriously cracked down. But the number of 9110 accredited CB's is much smaller than 9100's.
4.Is some general awareness to aerospace organisations is expected by IAQG through OASIS to avoid confusion?
The thread (with attachment) that I linked above thries to do that. Unfortunately, however, many organizations rely on CB's for "education/applicability" purposes. Some CB's will mislead some registrants, due to their limited scope of accreditation, instead of losing a business opportunity.

There are still some organizations and personnel out there that don't even know that AS9110 exists. Some of these are customers that mandate their suppliers be AS9100 certified. If your customer contract or RFP specifies AS9100, and you have AS9110 only, what would you do? :bonk:
