We have a situation in which different document histories are handled differently. Please bear with me, as we are not yet to the point where electronic signatures are an option.
Engineering drawings and (some) related documentation retains the initial approval signatures with any revision approvals located in the revision block and on the ECN, which is the method I am most familiar with.
Other documents, such as SCRs (software control records) have a cover sheet where revisions are noted and do not require a separate ECN. The original approval signatures are replaced at every revision with the change approval signatures.
Is this a common practice? Neither of these practices are addressed specifically in our QOPs and I am inquiring because I am in the process of recommending changes to our procedures to better control DPD (digital product definition) data, which is not currently handled consistently.
Your comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
