M
Just wanted to collect some thoughts from you guys in here regarding point of release and concession usage
There is a lot of concessions used here because of the approval process for parts....
under ideal circumstances what should happen is
ECR raised
ECR Technical review passed
ECR released
ECR Implementended
However what is happening (and embedded into change control software) is
(a)ECR Raised
(b)ECR Technical review passed
(c) ECR Purchasing and Panning review, this review is not for the technical ability of the part, but for a commercial POI (Point of Introduction), and is not signed until it is commercially viable to cut in new part.
(d) Post Purchasing and Planning review pass ECR is released and implemented.
the gap between (c) and (d) can be 6 months+
so for initial release concessions are raised based on fact that the validated design used parts that will be identical to eventually released parts.
I wondered if this is common for other users of the Cove, I feel comfortable that it is defendable for audit purposes but it does make me question the configuration process and whether there are other ways apart from concessions to release product while config mgt sort themselves out.
thx
