Dear Friends !

I am associated with certification of an automotive industry (CAR) to TS 16949.

This unit is buying all the components from vendors ie Engine, chassis, panels, dash boards etc. It has only the following processes at their works:
1. Welding 2. Pretreatment and CED 3. Painting 4. Assembly 5. and Road Testing before sending the car into market.

I am a learner on the subject. Could some tell me what requirements of APQP in different phases I shall have to implement. To my mind, as far as Phase II (Product D & D) there are totally free. Phase I, III, IV and V shall all be applicable to the processes mentioned above.

I am looking for help

In fact stage 1 is also not relevant as this refers to the business strategy for a new product not subcontracting which you are doing.
In stage 2 there is the feasability commitment which you need.

In fact in ISO/TS there is no requirement to follow all the steps of APQP as in the book unless their is a specific requirement from the customer.
What is needed is the design control for the design of the production process.

Thanks Mr Atkins :thanx:

I just want to know, since this company is only assembling all the parts bought from outside. The company has only welding, Pretreatment, painting, assembly and finally road testing the car. is the company eligible for TS ?

:thanx: Mr Stijloor. Then why we should do repeated work. Shall I produce both the document to auditors or I can show only the contract review .

All that is required is that you should be able to demonstrate that your organization:
  • understands the customer requirements
  • has the ability to meet customer requirements
How you do that is your decision.

Stijloor.
