This isn't the first time I've come across this. I am PPAPing a part that we make, have a mold drawing and a part drawing. The part drawing has the basic dimensions called out on it, but ALL the dimensions are in parenthesis. The first time I came across this I submitted PPAP to our customer and included NO Measurement data, only information that verfied conformance to the notes / material. They did call me out on it and when I told them that every dimension on the drawing was reference they said, "OK", signed the PSW as approved and it was done.
Our TS auditor called me out on it as well during our last audit -- I told him what I stated above and he said, "OK" and that was that.
Now the reason for my post.... My latest part that I am trying to PPAP, I have the drawing from China, with our customers handwritten part number/rev level on it (by them) and all the dimensions are again in parenthesis. Only this time, there isn't even a material type listed! Only that the part is to be black! I think this is a bit silly, but the lazy side of me says --- just show conformance that the part is black. -- - btw, material type is not stated on the PO nor are any other requirements.
