Are there different expectation for PPAP for servise parts? Here is why I ask...We pulled a tool from a supplier. The tool is for service that we may not build for years. Our company and the supplier have the purchase agreement that the new supplier will not refurbish the tool, but build parts as is whether parts are in print or not. It turns out the parts are out of print (not bad though).
I'm wondering if because it is service and runs so rarely, if customer expectations are low, and PPAP could be accepted with exceptions. Our Engineers are putting together a study to show that the out of print conditions don't compromise the fit, form, function or safety of the part. I wonder if that would help with PPAP to the customer. Any experiance with service PPAP??
