Are you Yankee or Dixie?

Definitions of "Damn Yankee" I've heard include: A northener moving south with a northern company and intending to stay in the South. And someone whose ancestors fought on the wrong side in the "War Between the States" more commonly known as the Civil War in my neck of the woods.

I qualified as a Damn Yankee under both conditions when I lived in South Carolina. :)
Actually a Yankee that comes down for a while is a "D"-Yankee....one that comes and stays is a "G-D-Yankee". A few years back the term Carpet-Bagger was used as well.

As for the "Civil War" it wasn't civil and the preferred term down here is "The War of Northern Aggression"

The wrong side? Oh yeah, the folks that came down, burnt everything and trespassed all over the place.

It's all a matter of perspective and point of view ya'll.............

Also known as the "War for Southern Independence". When Robert E Lee (one of the greatest generals ever btw) entered the yankee lands on two occassions, he required his troops to treat the folks in those places with respect (not that they wouldn't have anyway). Unlike what the yanks did. :bigwave:

I scored 76% Dixie - Considering I've never lived any where other than Alabama I guess my stepdad from Michigan had some influence over me after all.

59% Dixie, I can believe it. Both parents born and raised in the southern tip of WV (Bluefield) but I was born in Cook County General - Chicago and raise mostly in Detroit. If the RenCen had been there then we would have been in the shadows of it.
I was one of those kids that finally realized in 3rd grade that milk came from a cow and not from a truck!!!:lmao:
I'm looking forward to retiring to either Nashville or Charleston. So 59% fits well.

81% Dixie. Been livin' here in the (beautiful) South for 27 years. Rubs off on you. Lived in the Southern part of another country for 33 years. That may have had an impact too.

I'm sure most of you have seen this before. But, it's always fun to do them again.

Primarily, this will pick up unique word usages among Americans. I won't tell you what I scored (not yet anyway).

Try this Yankee/Dixie advance quiz.

I'm born and breed in Rhode Island yet I scored 58% Dixie - barely in Dixie. In 1942, my Gramma came up from Arkansas and my Dad was only 2 years old at the time but I guess the Southern in them is pretty inbred.
P.S. Great opportunity for Arkansas jokes about inbreeding :lmao:
No offense to Randy intended
