NOTE: A post in this thread has been Reported. The Moderators and I are watching this thread. As far as we can tell at this point no copyright or other rules have been broken in posts in this thread.
If at any time someone sees a post with copyrighted material the post should be Reported. Every post in a thread has a 'Report This' button
on it in the upper right corner. We will remove questionable posts with potentially copyrighted material from public access, we will then review it and will act as appropriate after our review. We ask that you let us deal with copyright issues rather than discuss it in a discussion thread. If someone does discuss it in a discussion thread, that only draws more people to it before we can get the post out of public access.
As to Joy's "tips", at this time we do not see an issue with them since no copyrighted material has been posted here. As to aspects such as suggesting that someone printing screens in an online course being a copyright issue, that is beyond the scope of our control here as long as the material is not posted here.
The one aspect we have in question is Joy's "tip" about the clock stoppage for spurious reasons. We have not taken the test so we don't know how it works, but in my experience a well written program for an online course will detect such instances of clock stoppage when a test or other aspect of the course is being timed.
I personally reviewed
Joy's "tips". I didn't see anything new, so to speak, although some of it (number 2 on her list) approaches what some would consider "cheating". We do consider this aspect in posts here. If we determine the content does provide and/or promote a method of cheating on an exam, we will remove the post. We do not allow "tips on how to cheat on an exam" - If we see such we will delete the post. If anyone here feels this is the case in a post, please us the 'Report This' button
and let the Moderators and I know about it. We will review it and we will take appropriate action.
I fully agree that tactics such as
"2.Remember that the watch in the computer can be stopped. There is a button on top right hand corner. Ask the proctor before the test is started. Ask the guy,” In case I want to go to wash room, do I loose time?”.Also ask how many times the watch can be stopped. This is very important as you can stop the watch and go outside to think about the question. Time is individual’s. Use this privilege." may be a bit on the 'shady' side of things, but that aspect should be a given that people will use it to their advantage. That aspect should be addressed and controlled by the designers and coders of the online course. A company or institution which does a poor job designing their online courses should expect design flaw exploitations.
I think the point is any time someone sits for any type of exam, in person or online, they should follow the rules set forth by the company or institution proctoring the exam.
In my experience a person either knows the material or doesn't. In reading Joy's post, what I come away with is
Pay Attention to Detail, Word by Word and Do Not Rely on your Memory when you can compare.. I don't see anything in the
Joy's "tips" post that tells how, or advises people to, cheat/beat the software.
