What section of ISO9000:2000/AS9100 covers aviation?
Hi Rick, welcome to The Cove.
The ISO 9000 family of documents, more specifically ISO 9001:2008, specifies quality management system requirements for
any type of organization to help consistently meet customer and legal requirements, and to achieve customer satisfaction and continual improvement.
AS9100 contains all of the ISO 9001 requirements, but has additional requirements specifically for organizations that design, develop and/or manufacture/produce aviation, space and defense products.
In addition to AS9100, there is also AS9110 and AS9120. AS9110 is written for organizations that provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services for aviation products. AS9120 is for organizations that buy parts, materials and assemblies for resale to the aviation, space and defense industries (distributors).
So, the short answer to your question is that ALL of the standards can apply to aviation, not just sections of them. Please let me know if this answer raises more questions...
