The biggest frustration has been the simple fact that I am new to the job, let alone the company and industry, making me that much slower at doing anything than an experienced quality management role would be.
Two new things added to the Rev. D standard are 6.3 Planning of Changes & 7.1.6 Organizational Knowledge. If a company had a very effective transition, the processes in place used to meet these requirements would have 1) understood what you need to know in your new role and 2) would have had a plan to get you up to speed prior to an audit (or to hire someone qualified).
As you are new to the role, perhaps what needs to happen as part of the containment for each finding is to review the requirement, and see what is there in your system. It is likely that the lack of understanding of the system meant that the organization was just unable to present effective objective evidence at the time of the assessment.
If that is the root cause, you only have to fix that. Containment is verifying systems are in place.
