By the way, why is the organization moving to AS9100? A customer requirement? Or the notion that, with an AS9100 certificate, new business opportunities would be possible?

Thank you for that link, it is already very helpful from what I am seeing.
I am not 100% sure, I was told it was something they have been wanting to do for a while. We do work with a lot of companies that I can see wanting AS9100. I would assume it would be to bring in more similar business. I didn't want to keep questioning too much since I am still pretty new here but that seems to be the reasoning.

I'm doing the same. My company is certified, and we just had a surveillance audit a couple weeks back, but my QMS is a shit show, and we, despite our certification, do not in fact have a legitimate internal audit program with which to document the ways in which it is a shit show, and subsequently make improvements. I'm developing it right now, and I paused here to read a couple of other threads and give myself a break from my own questions to look at some others. The CB auditor was very clear that she expects to see an audit program developed and implemented before she comes back in April (our regular schedule, just had the audit a couple weeks back due to Covid).

I took a lead auditor class earlier in the year, and thereafter it has just been read, think, scribble, repeat.

Holler at your homie if you'd like to talk about our similar situations, solutions, commiserate, whatever.

That was easily the best post on here. We actually held back on the AS9100 move for now but I do still need to learn about ISO9001. I will need to see if I can also join a class to learn a lot more.

One other thing I am not sure I saw here, is you will need to get on OASIS at some point. I'll bet the registrar walks you through that.
