AS9100C to AS9100D Transition Testing

First, let me say how HAPPY I am that Elsmar is back.....this is really great for everybody.

I started the process of obtaining my AS9100 AEA Auditor accreditation last year by sitting for the AATT exam, and I promptly failed the way a lot of folks do.

Hastily I rushed into the remote, re-exam via the Plexus supplied laptop, and failed that as well. (by what degree I have no clue)

I've completely backed off of attempting to take my final "re-take" for a very long time due to many reasons but I am finally ready to try to tackle this ridiculous (yes ridiculous) exam one last time, that quite frankly I find to be utterly worthless in how it is administered, how it's graded, and how the results are reported.

Which is to say nothing is reported other than the fact that you're told that you either passed or failed which doesn't allow you the opportunity to focus on what areas you may have done poorly on.

Having gotten that rant off my chest.....my question for those of you much more experienced than I is this:

If I sit through another six hour test at home via the Plexus supplied laptop, and actually "pass" this exam, will I have to go through all of this again in October when I hear AS9100D will be rolling out?

And if so, will I have to go through the entire saga all over again of paying an absorbent amount of money for a week long class with an exam at the end or just some type of refresher?

If anyone has any idea on what I should expect or what would be expected from me to stay current with AS9100D (if I pass the AS9100C exam) please get back to me & let me know.

Thanks Gang...........

Please forgive all the "extra" but I'm just over the moon frustrated with this entire process, and honestly I don't see how administering or grading the exams the way they do helps anyone or the industry over-all.

I have not heard any rumors as to how they will handle this change (not as dramatic as AS9100C) so they probably follow the pattern of ISO 9001:2015 and come up with a short lesson and a short test. :2cents:

I believe that the transition training wil be similar to the required training that they are requiring with the ISO9001:2015. Which would perhaps be a 1 day training followed by an exam. This would also be in alignment with the training that they required auditors to go through for the change of AS9101 Rev. D to the Revision E.

When you pass the AATT for AS91XX you will still have to take the transition to AS9100D. We all had to take the AATT and I agree, it was poorly administered. It appears to me the the wording in the AS9100D/AS9120B is poor. With missing words that cause you to pause and re-read the question. I am not appreciative of the process, but to quote the godfather, this is the business we have chosen
