AS9100D - Is the PEAR required?

We are going through our 2nd stage audit of AS9100D in one month.

We had a CB do a gap analysis to determine if we were ready before the stage 1 and he highly suggested using the PEAR.

Is using the PEAR a requirement or what he just suggesting?

It's not required - its a tool the CB auditor uses - however it's a worthwhile exercise to go through and can be used to compare what you know your process(es) are etc compared to what the auditor "thinks" happens. Do it!
