AS9102 reference in AS9100C - Why the change?

What's the background on why the reference to AS9102 was not carried over to section 7.5.1.1 in AS 9100 Rev C? Is it going to be obsoleted?

It was for the military guys, they do not use AS9102 FAI's... primes just mandate it instead so no real change.

The rationale for the relocation is available in the IAQG 9100 Changes & Rationale document. It states:
The “First Article Inspection" (FAI) clause was moved from 8.2 monitoring and measurement, to 7.5.1.1 production and service provision. The move acknowledges that this requirement is not primarily a measuring and monitoring process, but a process that will be used to assure product realization capability under controlled conditions.
Being in clause 7 also allows justifiable exclusion for unique and individual products.

Previously covered by clause 8.2.4.2- First article inspection (under monitoring and measurements), these requirements have been moved into clause 7 to emphasize that they are integral to the production part of the lifecycle- confirming that production processes are capable of consistently producing products that meet requirements.
Examples are provided when it is expected that production verification will need to be repeated.

By no means is AS9102 being obsoleted. Just the opposite. Many organizations invoke AS9102 as a contractual requirement.

I understand, Sudney. I just didn't understand why it was deleted as a guideline reference. It could be useful for those companies who are designing an FAI system where 9102 has not been flowed down. After all they left the ISO 10007 guideline reference for Configuration management even though the section was moved from 4.3 to 7.1.3
