Greetings. We are chasing approval with B**ing (probably a bad idea) for providing finishing services to their parts. According to their auditor that was just here, all of their PO's are going to reference AS9146. We have a FOD control program currently that we believe is appropriate to our situation as finishing services provider but there seems to be a huge smoking gun in 9146 involving tool control and inventory. Is our sense correct in that?
It seems that the tool control section is a guaranteed non-conformance every time an auditor shows up if they find a pair a screw driver or box cutter laying around.
Also, can anyone point us to resources as to how we might pursue compliance with tool control and inventory without creating a whole new position for an additional quality person to oversee tool control. Maybe we're overreacting, but, this kind of stuff has burned us before.
