ASME-NQA-1-2008 - Quality Assurance Requirements for Nuclear Facility Applications

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if the ASME NQA-1-2008 is accepted in the Nuclear Industry? The last time we had an audit they were still audited us on the 1994standard. I believe the ASME NQA-1-2008 is released but I am not sure that the nuclear industry has accepted it yet.

The 2008 version is an accepted version, the question is was it the standard that was used to get a nuclear project approved? We are being audited this week for a brand new project, but it is being built to the 94 revision. The revised standards do not supercede the older ones. Does that help with your question?

Interestingly enough I purchased this standard from the ASME website in October of 2008. I have also received an addendum to the standard since then. I looked on the ASME website before posting this and it is a pre-date order for 2010. I sent an email to their help and they tell me it is not published. I have been looking at the NRC site to see if they have accepted this standard. I have also left a voice mail for someone at the NRC. The two recent customer audits we had were definitely against the 1994 standards. I will let you know what I find out in my research. If anybody else has any info please join in.

The NRC has the proposal to upgrade 1994 to the 2008 with 2009 Addenda as of July 2010 out for comment. At least that is what ASME is advising to write to for ASME Nuke Cert Stamps to be applied for after 7/10.

Hello All,
This is correct. I spoke with someone from the NRC and they have not endorsed the ASME-NQA-1-2008 with the 2009 Addenda but as you stated it is in on the agenda for July 2010. This means our customers are still at the 1994 until the NRC endorses.

The NRC endorsement for NQA-1-2008 and the NQA-1a-2009 Addenda has been released as revision 4 of Regulatory Guide 1.28. They also have a few additional comments in the regulatory guide that are worth looking at. It can be found on the NRC website.

Here at RBS we are using 1972 version. I am actually looking for information related to staging material fro upcoming work. What are the requirements for staging material outside of the warehouse? Also, are there definitions of what items are to be placed into level - A/B/C/D storage?
