We recently have begun putting an attribute checking gage in our stamping press. If the part is undersize , the part is diverted to the reject chute.
My question is , I am trying to verify that this gage will do what it says it will. They are checking it with a defective part at the start of the shift. I have asked them to define with parameters the piece checked. The dimension is .449 min and .446 max diameter. Tight now, they are saying the tool or gage is doing its job if it catches an undersize part. They are not concerned over an oversize part. Also, we spoke about if there is a need for claibrating this device. The tool is tapered . Has anyone gotten into this type of poke yoke? How do you do a Gage R&R on such a device.
