I include our EH&S in the internal audit schedule because that is where our hazardous material storage, handling and shipping documents reside. I also go ahead and audit the requirements we have in place for other safety concerns such as LOTO, general safety (fire extinguishers, tripping hazards) just to make sure we are following our own safety requirements we have put in place IAW OSHA standards. The Safety Manager has never had any problems and I have identified a few shortcomings outside of any ISO/AS requirement which were addressed. Preventive Maintenance is an audit of its own and I address work environment concerns during the process control audit of a particular area but this is just how we do it at my company.
