My take was on trainers who 'market', training even in areas where no training need has been identified; and not on those of the 'noble' variety! In the instant case, ISO or IAF have identified a trg. need and even a regn. body like IRCA prescribes only a CPD of 2h duration! Out of the 80 oddd changes in 2008 version, only about 10% are kind of clarifications and the rest are purely 'editorial' changes. Further those who have applied provisions of the 2000 version understanding the intent of the clause and based on a situational analysis(rather than going in for off-the-shelf solutions), even the few new provisions with clarifications are nothig new, but 'old wine in a new bottle'!
Now I am really keen to know how certification/registration/accreditation bodies in other countries have addreesed the issue of transition? Is it same as IRCA's?

I mentioned in a previous thread about a training provider that I do a lot of work with who had decided not to offer update training for the reasons already addressed. However, they were being pressed by many of their clients to offer a course. What should they do? offer a course or watch their loyal client base go elsewhere for the training?

I developed a half day course which I have now run 6 times and also have more scheduled for Jan/Feb. We have had up to 18 people on some courses and the feedback has been very positive. Now, I admit that I take the opportunity to revisit some topics such as the difference between correction, corrective and preventive action rather than just tell them that the word 'effectiveness' has been added to 2 clauses. Perhaps I should refer to the course as refresher training + the changes rather than just an update course.

To be called a 'vulture' for helping to satisfy customer needs and expectations is a little strong Sir. :mg:

I fully agree with Andy that internal auditor needs to know more about his processes and documentation rather than ISO 9001. But I have seen NC reports from external auditors in which 'not citing the relevant ISO 9001 clause number in the NC reports of internal auditor', has been given as a 'nonconformity'!!!

Not a problem neelu, I agree that some training providers are taking advantage of the opportunity to make a 'fast buck'. Its like most things, it is up to the 'buyer' to get what they need.

That's very unfortunate that they'd do such a thing! That sort of nit-picky audit finding isn't productive, value added or even half way reasonable. I had hoped that no-one would 'accept' such findings and certainly not attend a bogus training course, just to avoid being written such a thing!
