Have any of you noticed that this week we have seen a significant increase in the number of visitors?

Numbers to watch:

A lot has happened over the years. It is too early to tell if this is significant, but here are some numbers as an FYI - Interpret as you wish. Note that this week's "surge" is only 3 days of increase so at this point it's not significant as an indicator, but hopefully an upward trend is starting:

Good! I was going to post something about how much more civilized the Cove is compared to Linkedin groups. The general conduct, the layout and moderation of the Cove is brilliant, compared to the scrappy discussions - and attacks - which go (often) un-moderated in some Linkedin Groups.

Perhaps some people are tired of reading page after page of the same tirades, from those evangelists who believe they are the only people with the "Right Answer" - in search of the peaceful interchanges (for the most part) of the Cove!

Why more visitors? Is there a way of finding out from a sample where they came from?

Are most of the newbies looking at multiple threads, indicating that they in fact arrived here knowledgably and are interested in the board's scope?

Organic Google search results are improving, so Google Search is sending more people here as best as I can tell.

It looks like Google has done an algorithm change to me, but until the end of next week I'm not making any predictions as to its effects here. And Google has been known to "roll back" algorithm changes from time to time.

Amen to that, brother. :applause:

Most discussions in LinkedIn are are like watching the Jerry Springer show: the first time you see filth and unbecoming behavior on TV might be amusing. But, after a while, people with proper moral guidance and standards realize that it is just trash and it quickly loses it's appeal.

The unmoderated discussions in LinkedIn, together with the fact that sick, inflated egos can not moderate themselves are a big turn off. If LinkedIn does not crack down on some of the clowns out there, they will be better known as a "UNprofessional network".

The Cove is indeed an oasis for the tired errant soul searching for wisdom and knowledge in the arid webspace known as internet.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Glad there is more traffic here, which could translate into a much wider awareness of and participation in this goldmine know as The Cove.
Kudos, Marc.

Funny, I was going to post a similar thought - after sticking my toe into the LinkedIn forums (huge volume, poor format, wandering threads, silly questions, and pompous ...) and the ASQ forums (no volume, format ok) and quality digest (low volume and must respond to a specific article so it's a bit difficult to gain coherence) I to began to notice a slight uptick in visitors here. I wonder if maybe the tide isn't tipping back from the flashy 'new thing' that emphasizes quantitity and self promotion over substance to our lovely forum...I hope so.

Re: 22 August 2013 - Status

I know I've spent a lot more time on the Cove this month since returning from aerospace auditor class.

Almost everytime I've Googled something quality or manufacturing related, Google points me here. It is a no brainer for someone looking for guidance.

Maybe its a transition time for many companies? It was summer when I was tasked to implement ISO9001 in our company, and there is no way I could have gotten as far as I did without the help and guidance from all of you here.:agree1:

Hope this trend continues!
