A survey (http://business.telus.com/en_CA/con...ught_Leadership/TELUS_Rotman_2011_Results.pdf) by Telus and Rotman School of Management on 649 Canadian organizations reveals that organizations which forbid access to social media sites at work suffer more information security incidents than those which permit it.
Being an information security consultant for quite sometime, I've seen employees bringing in their personal gizmos to work to access social networking and media sites. Some, instead of being effective work, try to find ways of circumventing the current security setup to gain access to social sites. Both of which are not being monitored and controlled by the organization.
