I am working in a custom manufacturing firm which has grown rapidly in the past 6 months. I am looking for (US only) the basic legal requirements we should be addressing for health and safety. It is light manufacturing (assembly), we use forklifts, handle heavy (>200 lb) parts in assembly, work on ladders during assembly (mostly less than 8' high), have one room using acids and volatile chemicals and test equipment with high (460V) voltages. There is no safety committee here and limited in-house expertise on OHS. Any thoughts or direction would be greatly appreciated.
