It depends upon the organization outlook. If several processes are through electronic data processing or the company is keen to shift into such a internal communication method in future, then it could be beneficial to have this EDMS also in place. Just an EDMS with much of the other things not using the power of computing would not be a big advocating. In the long run, what is the company looking ahead to do about its operations and methods ?
Thank you for the response. My position is that document control in construction companies are usually 'decentralized' on project basis. Each project site would normally be able to handle their own documentations comfortably. I am not saying an EDMS is not useful but feel that this resource could be better used in areas such as project management/planning and costing.
