Big Brother or Good Service?

Here's an interesting website:
https://www.fundrace.org/
You can type in the name of an individual to see if and how much he/she contributed in the most recent political race or you can type in a zip code and see everyone who made a political contribution - includes to whom and how much.

So my question is this, strictly from a Quality viewpoint:
Does making this information public as soon as it's available (rather than weeks and months after the election as it was in pre-internet days) add any value to the political process?

One thing I learned is poor Marc lives in a neighborhood heavily skewed to one party in terms of the number and dollar amount of donations going to politicians from one party compared to another. My own neighborhood, which I had considered to be primarily skewed toward one party, is, in fact, pretty evenly distributed this year.

Big Brother - definitely

One aspect is that people may be more driven to vote or contribute in an effort to either support or offset their neighbors. It gets people involved in the political process. Similarly, we try to bring people into our QMS. We try to show involvement of people and management to bring others in to the system. It won't work without it, after all.

From a privacy standpoint, I do not feel comfortable with this site. It does not indicate if you can protect your name from this kind of exposure. And, of course, 1984 scared the **** out of me! So I tend to have super-sensitive-spidey-sense about these kinds of things.
