I'm having a strange problem with my landline bill on a phone I have with Verizon. I'm hoping someone can offer some useful suggestions.
For the last 3 months, some charges have shown up that absolutely were not made from this phone. There are only 2 people in this house, no visitors, and the phone is question is primarily a fax line. In addition, for any longdistance calling or faxing I do, I always use a dialaround service. Each month, I've had perhaps 3 calls, each about 1 minute, to a fax number. I have no idea what this number is. The number appearing on the bill--always the same number-- is a fax.
I called the telco and explained the situation and telco agreed to remove the charges. I can understand why the telco is probably willing to remove the charges, and reluctant to do any investigation--it's just not worth it. But I am very curious to know what's going on--and concerned that it could escalate!
Many years ago, on my other telephone line, a telco guy installed a phone in a place a mile or 2 away, and inadvertently connected my line to that phone. I doubt that that';s what's happened here, because if it were, I think I'd have more charges on this line. But it makes me wonder!
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how these charges are winding up on my bill? And if there is anything I can say to Verizon custonmer service to get some answers? Tnx.
