Periodically throughout the year and at the close of each year, I analyze the measures and data collected relative to our overall quality performance. From this information, I try to select a few improvement initiatives to focus on. This year, the data was quite varied and didn?t reflect any obvious areas requiring improvement, however, one item that stands out is that the corrective actions issued for product deviations (46) outnumbered the number preventive actions that taken (38).
Based on that, I?ve decided to focus on boosting our preventive action system. We currently have a basic system that somewhat mirrors our corrective action system. I would like to increase the level of employee involvement, but I really am not sure what the best approach would be. Employee morale is not the best and soliciting their involvement may be difficult. Does anyone have any suggestions or a procedure they would be willing to share? I am thinking perhaps a simple suggestion program may work. Opinions welcome
