To echo samsung's reply:
- there are no 'ISO audits' because I am not aware of ISO performing any audits of any organizations. There are 'audits agains (insert number here) ISO standard) and, as samsung has indicated, these are limited to the scope of the standard. For example there are quality management system audits (ISO 9001), environmental compliance (ISO 14001), calibration facilities (ISO 17025), etc.
- A 'business excellence audit' is usually looking at the overall performance of an organization, just as the name indicates. Such audits usually cover management systems, safety, environment, finacial performance, etc. The criteria and scope varies from award to award (i.e. Baldrige, Shingo, various professional societies, etc).
- Whatever the audit is, the intent is to verify the level of compliance against a set of requirements or criteria.
Hope this helps.
