Calibration Laboratory Dimensional Temperature Question

Hi, we were audited last time and was asked - if you maintain your temperature to 20 +/- 1 Celsius, what will you do if temperature is out?

I answered we stop working.

Now, they are asking where is it mentioned in the standards that we have to stop...then I wasn't able to answer...

Is there any statement in any standard procedures that we have to stop working if your temperature is out of tolerance...or is it a best practice that we don't need to mention in any manuals or standard procedure.

Would love to hear any of your thought regarding this or topics about environment controls in calibration labs.

TIA

First can you tell us where did you get the requirements for the temperature settings?

For clarification - which auditor are we discussing here? Accreditation? Internal? If an accreditation auditor, they should know where in the standard is states this. BTW, you could continue to work, since you could factor the effect of increased temp (coefficient of thermal expansion in metal for example) on your uncertainty etc. How many people in the lab, btw?
