Calibration of IR thermometers above 1000?C

ASTM E2847 covers IR thermometers up to 1000?C, and no more. Is there any standard, from any org., that covers up to 1370?C or higher?

Thanks for the interest. I should add, that for T under 1000?C the std E2847 is excellent. Not just a list of prescriptions, but explanations of components & eqs. & examples.

Anyone have anything to add to this one?

Jay, unfortunately, I really don't have much to offer you. However, I did want to post to let you know that people did at least look at your request.

I don't know that IR thermometers are tricky gadgets, and difficult to calibrate. Are you trying to verify these in-house?

Re: Calibration of IR thermometers above 1000°C

Turns out, best I can tell, that published standards for high temperature IR measurements are not available. I'll be happy to be corrected anytime. Possibly some development in the works internationally. Meanwhile, I am adapting low T calibration procedures to high T situations. My challenge is that some high T equipment uses a slightly different twist on the IR flux to T conversion. Superior, but not subject to identical sources of uncertainty.

So I leave this thread outstanding: Who has experience with calibrating high temperature IR thermometers? Especially for in-plant use? Who would like to discuss the matter?
