Calibration of Laboratory Equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's procedure

Hi,
I am Kalyan. I have query regarding the Lab Equipment Calibration. The Calibration certificate is valid for 2 years. The Manufacturer is in Canada, we are in Africa, which makes it difficult for sending it back to them for recalibration. Manufacturer says we can calibrate by the procedure specified in the manual. Now, the said procedure (S.O.P.) would be valid according to ISO 9001:2008 , or makes it a N.C.?

Thanks in advance

Kalyan

Re: Calibration of Laboratory Equipment in accordance with the manufacturer's procedu

Calibrating the equipment according to the manufacturers procedure would satisfy the standard, regardless of who does the calibration. The same requirements apply, including that the equipment used to perform the calibration must itself be calibrated, keep records, and so on.

Traceability to a known standard is the key. It does not matter who does the calibration. Be sure to pay attention to any requirements in the manufacturers procedure regarding temperature and other environmental conditions when doing the calibration.
