Calibration post-equipment move

Hi,

We are an IATF16949 site and are transferring an MFI (Melt Flow Index) tester from another site, which is calibrated by an external provider. My question is, do we need to have it recalibrated when it arrives at the receiving site? There doesn't seem to be anything specific in IATF but I was wondering if there is something buried deep in there that others may be aware of or have had experience of?

All help & guidance gratefully received!

16949 does not mention this specifically, as far as I can tell. What happens is that some organizations use ISO 17025 as their calibration standard, and the movement of calibration standards is covered:

6.4.4 The laboratory shall verify that equipment conforms to specified requirements before being placed or returned into service.

Thanks - that seems to be logical and as 17025 is referenced in IATF it would be prudent to get a re calibration done

No you do not for equipment like an MFI (oscilloscope, etc).

If it were some sort of large metrology tool as part of a process (inline), then you would have to as part of the "requalification".
