Welcome. :bigwave:

There might be someone here who has a procedure, but if you're not sure how to go about calibrating a spline gage it would probably be best to have it done by an outside service--it can be a tricky business. Westport is a source that manufactures spline gages and provides calibration services. No endorsement implied; there are lots of sources for this sort of thing.

Thanks, We have been calibrating them for years but I am just not sure if our procedure is the best way of doing it. We have over 300 spline Go-No Go plugs and with the cost of them, I would have to have doubles of all to keep running. I buy most of my spine gages from Western Pegasas and their turn around can be slw at times

This is sometime overlooked but the specification to which you purchased the gages to would have the needed information about the requirements and verification method. Use this information to validate your current method. If you are unsure what the specification is (or should be) you might also find this information on your calibration service supplier certification or the original certification from the manufacturer.

Just like we calibrate a threaded plug gauge by measuring a over wire diameter using standard wires,we can select a best wire and calculate over wire diameter depending on the design of the spline gauge and measure.Other parameter for calibration will be the dimension across a specified number of teeth which would have been given in the design parameters of the splines.
