Calibration Stickers on Measurement Equipment - Compulsory or not

I know that calibration sticker means that the particular equipment is calibrated (date of calibration) & the next due. But why do we have the nextcalibration due dates when we can't guarentee anything about its status between these intervels?
In normal usage and handling conditions calibration sticker should guarantee its correctness. It is an assurance for the user that the instrument gives correct results.Changes due to mishandling cannot be guaranteed. We should not expect such a guarantee.Again the user of the measuring instrument is supposed to be a trained person.
The main purpose of identification for caliration is to assure its user.
It was followed even before the birth of ISO 9001 QMS.

That's another matter, which involves having a recall system, and having employees trained and understanding the ramifications of having past due instruments. Training, training, training, with the employees to be concerned about the calibration status, and bringing instruments to the responsible calibration person when they are due, instead of the calibration person having to go beat the bushes and round up equipment that is due.
Resources, resources, resources - ensuring the resources to do the calibrations are available, and the priorities are correct to ensure they can be done on time - as well as appropriate contingency plans.

I would not agree with that - is is neither an assurance nor a guarantee. It simply indicates the next time the gage needs calibration - and the period - one hopes - has been determined to reduce the risk to an acceptable level (not guarantee) that the gage is not reading correctly due to expected handling, wear, etc. during that period. Either damage or increased use can void any "guarantee", but not affect the sticker or its information.

That is why we have recall procedures if you get back a gage and find that it is out of calibration, right?

The risk of wear is considered in fixing calibration interval. As for as mishandling, it is assured by entrusting the gauge to trained persons only.
If the above conditions are not ensured any calibration system will be a failure.
