Reference clause 7.1.5.2.1 i of IATF which requires that the records of verification of production related software used for Product and process control needs to be maintained, can you please suggest how the same can be demonstrated for a Cold Rolling Mill and Annealing Furnaces. Since all the production processes are controlled by software, how can I demonstrate compliance.

Well, the software controls the machines used? I'm imagining something like temperature control is important. So through the software, you can control the temperature of the machines. but also in your furnace there is a gauge that measures the temperature and reports it to the software. how do you confirm that they are reading the same? the gauge should be calibrated, and then you would verify that the software and the gauge are reporting the same thing?

I'm just taking a guess at how your place works, but I would think something like that. then simply ensure that there is documented evidence of calibration of gauge and verification of software read outs?

Another way of looking at this, how would you know if you had problems with the software, what could go wrong that would be software related? What did you do to validate that it is adequate for your processes?

further of anneliesehuss suggestion for the verification , I see also you should refer to Machine brochure & IT processes also , the software maybe built in ' hence you should refer to machine manufacture to recommend the suitable verification' otherwise the responsible IT may have verification protocol of applied programs

It can involve verifying whether the software version / the program used is correct and did not have any malfunction. It can be verified during preventive maintenance and other checks.
