Hello All, I am in the process of writing a work instruction detailing the steps taken while calibration checking our in-house dial indicators. We use Mitutoyo indicators with a resolution of 0.0005". I propose to check them against a master of equal resolution using a piece of machined rod with permanant measurement locations marked. This would happen on a steel table, leveled and bolted to the floor. We use these dial indicators to measure out of roundness in propeller shafts and our tightest tolerance is 0.003". Does this sound sufficient? Thanks for the input.
