One of our potential suppliers ABC Co, is entering a partnership with another firm XYZ, Inc who is ISO 9001:2000 accredited. The ISO partner is opening up operations within one of the open bay's in the ABC Companie's manufacturing facility. The non-ISO supplier (ABC) is telling us they will be ISO-9001 accredited Company. The partnership will also be ISO accredited.

XYZ, Inc is an ISO-9001 accredited Company. The partnership will also be ISO accredited. ABC Co., in conjunction with XYZ Will go through the ISO review, preparation and accreditations for ISO certification.
XYZ, Inc will be supplying parts by June!!

This all seems funny. It seems to me that both comapnies will have to be ISO?

It does not happen that easily, and it is not automatic. Generally, a scope expansion would be involved if there is a common location, system and ownership. Often, there would be a full certification audit if these conditions are not met.

It would be wise to discuss this with the registrar - they will have to decide the details they are willing to accommodate.
