We use a calibrated thermometer (cal done at several points near our usage points) to report the temperature at which a linear dimension was measured.
One opinion is that the accuracy of this thermometer is only considered accurate to the tolerance stated on the cal report (the mfg. Specs)((1.8 F)
My opinion is that it is accurate to what the cal lab found the error to be (reading verses cal reading, plus the cal lab stated uncertainty. ( around 0.5 F).
What are your opinions?
Thanks!
