Our ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturing company has downsized and with this went our entire internal audit staff leaving just me. I am not getting the support that I need. Time and resources are very minimal. Is it possible to try a different method of auditing such as sending an email to the auditee with the iso / organizational requirement and a request for evidence that the requirement is being met? Maybe send a requirement and request one per day to cover all iso clauses? Would this be an acceptable way of gathering information? Thank you
I have to be honest, I don't see this as working.
If you are not there, and asking and poking around, how are you going to uncover
any NC's or OFI's?
At best, what you will wind up with is a pile of useless audit reports that have served no useful purpose tot he company.
At worst, it will be a huge headache because the auditee won't know exactly what to send you and/or will "fudge" things just to satisfy you.
Honestly - I can't think of any way that this would work - and frankly if I was a second or third party auditor I would not buy off on it.
I agree with Andy that you need to look at how you have been doing things with an eye to performing audits more efficiently
