Can TS 16949 certificate include ISO 9001:2000

Dear all,
For QS-9000, the certificate is QS-9000:1998/ISO9001:1994. What about TS16949 certificate? Can we include ISO9001:2000 into the same certificate?

The certificate content requirements do not specifically address the inclusion of ISO 9001-2000.
Your CB should be able to answer this question.

I just talked to the technical manager at one registrar today - AQSR. Basically if your scope of accrediation is 100% automotive, you will receive one certificate for both ISO 9001: 2000 and ISO/TS 16949: 2002. If scope is only partially automotive, you will receive one TS certificate for the automotive scope and one ISO certificate for the non automotive.

So, if 100% of your business is making car seats, you get one certificate for both.

If 50% of your business is making car seats and 50% is raising tropical fish (not used in cars), you get a TS certificate for making car seats and a ISO certificate for making seats and fish.

This may just be one registrars policy. Not sure if they all follow it.

Come to think of it I did work on an aquarium train car back when I worked for Lionel. Even though the fish were silkscreened on vinyl, perhaps they could be considered automotive parts.

Accreditation is the key!

It all depends on who the accreditation body is for your registrar. Here in the UK accreditation for ISO TS 16949 registrars is with the SMMT. For an ISO 9001.2000 registration for suppliers of automotive parts (or tropical fish) the accreditation body is usually UKAS. Hence one registrar does the assessment and issues an accredited certificate for TS and one for automotive parts.

Maybe I misread what you wrote, but it sounds like you're implying that one registrar can't be accredited by more than one accreditation body. They can - one registrar can issue both ISO/TS 16949:2002 and ISO 9001:2000 certificates.

Multiple Accreditation

Yes it is a misunderstanding. One certification body can be accredited by any number of bodies but unless it is the same body for TE and 9k2k than you need 2 certificates.

The fact that there is a different accreditation regime for TE may mean there are two certificates. As I mentioned earlier in the UK SMMT accredits certification bodies to issue TE certificates and UKAS is the main body to accredit 9k2k.

OK, sorry about that. :bonk: After I read it again I can see that's what you mean.

Tom, does this mean two certificates for the price of one? Surely this must be to god to be true??

Cheers!
