Definition CAR - Corrective Action Request - What is the Definition of

Hi, folks. Does anyone have a good definition of a Corrective Action Request? ISO defines it as "Action to eliminate the cause of a detected nonconformity”, but I'd like something with a little more "meat on the bone" that will be truely meaningful to our employees.

The attached says: "CAR Definition: A request for root cause remedy of a contractual noncompliance." That's a pretty focused definition, but in general it applies if the word 'contractual' is removed: "A request for root cause remedy of a noncompliance."

"Action to eliminate the cause of a detected nonconformity” is a corrective action, not a request for corrective action.
