Case study of Restaurant - If the restaurant (ISO 9001:2015 certified) was run by 2 persons covering cooking and purchasing processes (Mother and Father) supported by their 2 Child, if the parents are hospitalized due to accident (caused by 3rd party) and children take over.
a) Does the quality policy need to be revised and in case of revision , should the (revised) policy have revision status.
b) Is corrective action required for such accidents
c) Should the accident be reviewed in Management review
d) Can the management review be electronically documented in laptop and emailed to attendees without any formal signed attendance sheet.
e) Can the customer satisfaction survey be sub-contracted

mdinya,

a) Yes
b) Yes, if the accident is within the scope of the QMS
c) Yes, if this accident reveals a new hazard or reveals the need to extend the scope of the QMS
d) Yes, provided this is in line with your procedure
e) Yes, to a contractor conforming to the selection criteria

Wishing Mother and Father a speedy recovery and the actions taken to reduce the chances of such accidents.

Since ISO 9001 is about the product (in this case the service of providing food) then accidents are NOT part of the scope. So, your answers would be:

No - unless the management change is permanent
No, not if considering ISO 9001. Yes, because it's a common sense, safety issue.
No, see above
Yes it can - as long as we're now talking strictly ISO 9001 and QMS, not safety
Yes, in fact it's maybe the best way.

Hi, mdinya -

What do you mean "caused by 3rd party"? Did the accident happen in the restaurant?

Hi, mdinya -

3rd party - external sources , accident happened outside restaurant

From the conditions given , what I could understand is

The subject is demanding us to keep an eye on the impact of risks to QMS due external issues (Accident) and internal issues (Change in Management)

Seniors may enlighten further

How important to customer satisfaction were the Mother and Father?

We may find they are a critical resource to assure quality and satisfy customers at least until they’ve executed their succession plan.

Hence the need for the temp top managers to reconsider the scope of the QMS and the adequacy of the risk assessment with regard for the future of the restaurant and it’s stakeholders.

all,

just give opinion ~ im not iso9001 expert

a) Does the quality policy need to be revised and in case of revision , should the (revised) policy have revision status.
~ In case on all QMS, SOP, WI remain status quo (the restaurant operating normal like previously)
*I guess NO
BUT,
~if the 'new owner' come with new policy/operating (QMS) itself, there for REVISION is needed for the 'updated' Quality Policy

b) Is corrective action required for such accidents
~Corrective action needed if the (accident happened within the restaurant) itself regardless cause' by internal/external parties

c) Should the accident be reviewed in Management review
~Yes, as above
refer (4.4f) + (9.3.2e) the effectiveness of actions taken address risks/opportunities

d) Can the management review be electronically documented in laptop and emailed to attendees without any formal signed attendance sheet.
~Yes (unless the Auditor have some :censor:)

e) Can the customer satisfaction survey be sub-contracted
~Yes (but i guess the Auditor may ask for SOP, Quality Plan, ..)
So, 6.3(plan of change) , 7.4(communication) , SOP itself needed to revise needed to cover this issue

correct me if i'm wrong :)

thanks in advance!

Dear Sir.
No standard is demanding anything.
The children can manage the business with the best support provided by the parents from where ever they are.
a,b,c is NO
d, Do whatever is the best way you can communicate
e, Do whatever was being done with the guidance of the parents.

Remember that its your business and whatever best way can be followed to survive this crisis is for you to decide and implement.

Now if you can see that Accident as a risk, could displace management responsible people, there by adversely affecting the business., then begin to have children also getting involved in the management process..... going ahead
Business first, Certification next.
