CE Marking of Robotic Devices which use 5 Bar Pneumatics

Hello, I'm looking for some help

I am considering the CE marking of an electrical robotic device which falls into LVD territory (115v/240V AC) and uses 6 bar pneumatics for mechanical articulation.

The directives that appear to be relevant to this equipment are
  • 2014/35/EU Low Voltage Directive
  • 2006/42/EC Machinery Directive
  • 2014/68/EU Pressure Equipment,
  • 2014/30/EU Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive

Does this list seem reasonable? I have read that the LVD Directive is mutually exclusive from the Machinery directive and that applying one removes the need to apply the other. Is this a generally accepted rule?

It's not a question of general acceptance. The directives in question will tell you (themselves) whether they are affected by, or affect, the applicability of another directive, and how. If they say nothing about each other, they will each apply / not apply based on each one's scope statements.

Thanks for confirming that the LVD vs Machinery directive are not mutually exclusive as has been suggested elsewhere. I'll review both for applicability when assessing product compliance requirements.

Equipment that is covered by the Machinery Directive is exempt from the LVD and the LVD should not be on the DoC:

2006/42/EC
1.5. RISKS DUE TO OTHER HAZARDS
1.5.1. Electricity supply

Where machinery has an electricity supply, it must be designed, constructed and equipped in such a way that all hazards of an electrical nature are or can be prevented.
The safety objectives set out in Directive 73/23/EEC shall apply to machinery. However, the obligations concerning conformity assessment and the placing on the market and/or putting into service of machinery

See also the guide to the machinery directive:
§222 Electricity
.......The second sentence of this paragraph makes it clear that the procedures of the LVD relating to the placing on the market and putting into service are not applicable to machinery subject to the Machinery Directive. This means that the Declaration of conformity for machinery subject to the Machinery Directive shall not refer to the LVD......
