Change of Scope of Registration required?

Hi All,
The company I work for is slowing changing from a Marine based Pyrotechnic product supplier to a Defence Pyrotechnic and expendable stores company.
As such, there is going to be an increase in the Service / Warranty side of business. This becomes tricky as much of the customer property is export / import controlled being military items.

At this time, our current scope is as follows:
"Import and Stockholding of Distress signals, marine search and resuce and emergency beacons for Defenc and other users.
Design, development and manufacture of pyrotechnic and non pyrotechnic products for commercial and defence applications"

Can anyone advise if I am required to commence discussions with certification body to alter our scope to include the service / repair of customer property?

Your scope change can include service / repair activity if you are also including this exclusively within your QMS, however there is no need to mention "Customer property" within the scope.
You may mention the scope change during the pre audit company information that you provide to your CB and discussions if necessary about this does happen during the opening / closing meetings of the audit.

I dont think u need to change the scope.. Its clear that "imprort and defense and other items..." Also it is stated that :"Design of commercial and defense applications".... Customer property - No need to bring it to certification scope

Have you asked your CB? Isn't that what they're there for, to help you with such questions? IF you have a main point of contact - a client service person, why not simply call them up, explain what is happening and see what they do for you. It should be part of the service!
