Re: Changes in AS9100 Revision C

Did you receive an answer to this question? Sorry if you did post it and I missed it.
The "answer" is that the clock has not started ticking yet. At this time, it is unclear when the revised 9101 standard will be released. So, the 30 month transition period for AS9100 certified organizations to adequate their certs to rev. C has not started yet. Check http://www.iaqg.sae.org/iaqg/organization/opmt/200902.pdf

Re: Changes in AS9100 Revision C

Sidney this is the same 23rd Jan ICOP update that I posted back on the 27th Feb and as you say the release of 9101 is not defined. This is going to cause some uncertainty in the industry - take just one issue of mine. I am due to do some internal auditor training for a client soon - client is obiously looking twords 9100 rev c which takes out the requirement for "detailed tools etc" in 8.2.2 obiously, at least to me, as a link into the less percriptiave 9101 rev d. Do I train to the old prescriptive checklist based philosphy or the new? I will actually cover both. This is just an example of the issues this delayed 9101 revision is going to throw up. Does anyone have a inside track with ICOP, and ability to gain an understanding when 9101 rev d will be published?

Yes, it is the same one I had linked in my post #40 , dated February 13th.

That is why I created the Buyer beware: Attending training to AS9100 Revision C. thread. Collectively, we have to deal with the situation.

Does anyone have a inside track with ICOP, and ability to gain an understanding when 9101 rev d will be published?
I do have an inside track. I am a member of the leadership team of the AAQG and also a member of the Registration Management Committee. See attached for a slide from the last AAQG meeting in Portland, OR. It shows July as the target date.

Re: Changes in AS9100 Revision C

I know it has been asked, but is there an implementation date for the released AS9100 Rev C?

You can implement it now, should you want to do it. However, you can not be certified to Revision C of AS9100, until your CB auditor has been qualified for auditing against that standard, which it won't probably happen until late 2009 or early 2010.

Once all the documents are in place (AS9101 rev. D) and the clock starts ticking, organizations will have a MAXIMUM time frame of 30 months (2 1/2 years) to migrate/attain certification to Revision C of AS9100.

The clock has not started ticking yet....

Re: Changes in AS9100 Revision C

Hi Sidney, thanks for all the input to the forum over the years. The last slide you posted was intriguing . Do you think they will roll out AS9101 Rev D during the tentatively planned AAQG annual auditor meeting tentatively planned for late July?
Thanks and Cheers Dez:)

No, I don't think so. Based on what heard this week, in Phoenix, during the (on-going) IAQG meeting, I would not be surprised if Revision D of AS9101 is further delayed.

Re: Changes in AS9100 Revision C

Can some one suggest why IAQG was prompt to issue the AS9100 when they are not ready with other things?Did they think that it would be a good idea to give aerospace community to have long experience (pre-marital romance) before using it for certification (marraige);)

Though the new standard talks about project management and risk management, those are not practised with AS9100 revision.Even now there is no news.
