We do data translation of mathmatical part models, such as from catia to iges and back to autocad format, to name just one. Are there standards for the acceptability of the translations. How can the data be checked.
Data translation is checked by using 'known' files. You have one to input where you know what output to expect and see if you get it. You also run one of more files through which have known errors (field missing or whatever) and see if it catches the errors as it is designed to.
Do you design and write the translation software or do you use canned software?
