Hi all,

I need HELP! I have done PPAP in the past, but on the GM platform, and that was a few years ago. Now I'm being transferred back into the PPAP role, but this time on the Chrysler platform, with no training. I have no idea where to start. I'm comfortable with receiving & reviewing the Supplier PPAPs, I just don't know what to do when it comes to submitting OUR PPAP to Chrysler as their supplier.

What do I need to know to do PPAP on the Chrysler end of things?

Thx!

First thing you need is the AIAG PPAP manual. But you may already have it...
Next is finding out what your Chrysler (customer plant) PPAP submission requirements are. As a supplier, you should have access to the Chrysler-specific PPAP requirements. If not, contact your customer plant. In addition, this site may help you too.

Chrysler PPAP requirements.

I hope that other Cove Members with Chrysler experience chime in.

I can not give any specific Chrysler info but the best action is to talk to the customer and agree with him what he needs.

Thanks for the links - those will help.

Looks like I have a lot of reading to do. As I mentioned, I'm not worried about the Suppliers to our company and reviewing their PPAPs.....I'm more concerned with submitting to our Customer (Chrysler). I know how to manouver through GQTS for GM submissions, but have no idea how to do the same with CQMS for Chrysler. And, as I found out yesterday - there is no one that can train me or point me in the right direction. And that makes me nervous!
Thx again :)

Yes, makes sense. But first you need to be clear what your customer wants. They must tell you what to submit for PPAP.

I'm a tier 2 to Chrysler, and although I have not had to PPAP directly, I did do some research on their requirements when we became T2. Their PSO process is quite detailed, so download that and start your reading. The process is PPAP/APQP on steroids and I doubt they follow it "to the T" for all parts (completely new parts probably. minor revisons, I doubt). Then you will need to get specific direction from the customer reps. as stated by other posters.

We (but fortunately not ME) supply directly to Chrysler. Their requirements are very specific and documented, in their PSO manual. Best advice that I can give you is to develop a REALLY good relationship with your customer counterpart, and start reviewing the PSO manual. Get clarification on the points that you don't understand (and there will probably be quite a few; the manual isn't that user-friendly).

One definite hint that I can provide is for EMP (no, not the result of the tactical thermonuclear device that they have planted under your building, this time it means ERROR or MISTAKE PROOFING). Anywhere that you see EMP mentioned in the PSO, you must have one or the other.

Error proofing means that your process is designed so that the fault cannot occur.

Mistake proofing means that your process is designed to either detect the defect OR to prevent it from being carried forward to the next process.

Hope this is of some help to you.
